Stop by to see influential designs and artworks from the Bauhaus movement in Future Present and Abstract/Object. Future Present is a great introduction to László Moholy-Nagy (LaZ-LO Mo-HA-lee NADGE), who blended traditional art materials with technologies that were new during the artist’s lifetime, such as photography, plastics, prefabricated design, telephones and recorded sound. These experiments include a collection of totally weird-but-cool Plexiglass sculptures, and ‘paintings’ created by special order over the phone. Abstract/Object, a companion show to Future Present, takes a look at how future generations of artists riffed off Moholy’s experiments and style. You can check out both of these retro-future delights until early January 2017.
